ABOUT CALLIE MAGINNIS

I am a Fashion Design and English major at Virginia Commonwealth University. My work centers on sustainable design, with a focus in ethical and mindful production methods. I have a strong interest in nature and agriculture, which has led to exploration in new textile uses and alternative production solutions, in hopes of creating harmony between nature and fashion. I use my knowledge of knitwear and enthusiasm for surface design and innovative textiles to propel my work forward. 
I see fashion design as a way to create narratives and often use my designs to tell stories of the American Experience. Vintage fashion plays a large role in my design process, particularly in reference to the details and styles of American fashion history. My love of vintage clothing also influences my stance on creation and consumption within the industry: respecting who makes the garments, how they are made, and their value within society.
